Star Live team to Iceland to deliver support for the 2021 Worlds’ in Reykjavik

After the success of the 2020 League of Legends World Finals in Shanghai last year, Star Live was contracted to deliver the structural support for the 2021 ‘Worlds’ in Reykjavik, Iceland. Late September saw 9 x 40ft containers leave our operational base carrying almost a kilometre of heavy duty steel truss to make one huge ground-support.

A team of 16 highly skilled technicians from Star Live installed the complex structure against a very tight schedule. An extensive Kinesys load-cell system was used to balance the asymmetric lift on 24 towers simultaneously, enabling the 40 ton grid to be precisely positioned before holding 60 tons of production for the next 7 weeks.

Thanks to our clients ConCom Inc and Riot Games. It was a pleasure once again to be working alongside friends from Alpine Rigging & Structural Design, Creative Technology and The Event Safety Shop Limited, as well as the great local support provided by Luxor. We’ll be back in the Land of Ice and Fire in November for the load out.
