International Infrastructure: Supporting the Growing Music Industry

The music industry has been growing in several ways in recent years, with new genres emerging and international artists succeeding worldwide. An example of this is K-pop, a division of the pop genre which originated in South Korea. In the last decade, K-pop has become a global phenomenon, with bands such as BTS having tens of millions of listeners and generating billions of dollars for the Korean economy.  The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism estimated that their song ‘Dynamite’ generated over $1.4bn, highlighting the importance of music to the country. Since parts of the world have started to open, we have been supplying our international infrastructure solutions to help host music festivals and concerts to boost economies globally.

What international events have we done?

We proudly finished 2023 off by providing international infrastructure for the EDM festival ZoukOut’s 20th edition show in Singapore. Our 20m VerTech stage was specially configured to complement Live Legends’ futurist design and included over 30 tonnes of production. This featured an intricately rigged main video screen and a scenic surround set at a 45-degree angle around the stage support towers.

The stage was built by the delivery team, who worked in tropical conditions to erect the stage

just metres away from the ocean and helped provide robust production against the daily rainfall, ensuring a seamless performance for both tech and performances. This landmark event marked the regional debut of our VerTech stage in Asia!

Before we worked on ZoukOut, we took our international infrastructure solutions to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to host BLACKPINK and Imagine Dragons for our first major project in the Kingdom. We took the Titan stage out to Riyadh as one of our international structures for this milestone event, marking the start of a new chapter for our international operations. Saudi Arabia is a key strategic focus for us across all four of our pillars, not just in staging and Entertainment but also in Design & Build, Sport and Brands. We are also committed to helping facilitate the creation of a world-class, vibrant entertainment industry in Saudi Arabia and to play a part in helping them achieve their goal of Vision 2030.

What’s coming up?

BookMyShow Live acquired one of our flagship VerTech Stage Systems to be unveiled as the BUDX main stage at Lollapalooza India 2024 as part of a new era for India's live entertainment industry. The VerTech stage is one of our most advanced international infrastructures, representing a significant engineering milestone being the world’s first all-steel stage to feature at a live entertainment event in India.

VerTech (from Versatile Technology) improves upon traditional aluminium stages and structures, offering unprecedented performance capability, sustainability and resilience. The galvanised steel composition ensures maximum durability, making it the ideal choice for India’s diverse climate, providing weather protection against the wind, rain and heat.
